French and knitting

Bonjour! I have been enjoying learning francais through Rosetta Stone. It is so much fun! Languages are tres fascinating, non? Anyways, I should probably stop….my francais n’est pas perfect, and reading billinual posts may turn out to be difficult for non-francais speakers and painful for those who parle francais.

I’ve completed about deux feet of the bleu scarf (a Christmas present). Another Christmas present, a custom cable scarf, will be started shortly. For myself, I’m finishing up the second sleeve of my first sweater. I can’t wait! (I’ve been knitting it for almost un year now!) After that, I plan to knit myself some white mittens (the white gloves never turned out…they were WAAAAY too big!). I’d like to knit mon chien his own little doggie sweater, too…Je doubt I’ll find the time, though.

Busy busy!

Wow. Busyness. I can’t believe I’ve gone without posting for so long! Anyways, I finished my Harmony legwarmers. They turned out two different lengths, so I decided to change them to anklewarmers. I kinda wanted a drawstring, but the purple ribbon I tried weaving in and out of the ribbing got all messed up…..*sigh*….anyways, now I have a pattern, so I can make them identical next time!

In the meantime, I’ve started on two Christmas presents. One is a striped scarf. For that, I’m using four strands per stripe, which means I have twelve balls of yarn for that project alone! Another is a cabled scarf, similar to one I made not too long ago. This one involves one ball of yarn at a time. I’m really looking forward to cabling again!

Trying to finish up these legwarmers. Fun fun! I might get a chance to shop for more knitting stuff tomorrow, so I’d like to be done with these so I’ll be able to start a scarf I’m giving as a Christmas present.

Soccer and knitting

Well, I managed to finish one of my legwarmers while at my brother’s soccer game! I forgot to bring my scissors, so I had to use my grandma’s pocketknife scissors . Anyways, I’ve made some great progress on the second legwarmer, and I’m really happy with my pattern.

But I don’t know if I like the name “bouree”…maybe “Harmony,” for 1 Peter 3:8? (“Finally, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble.”) Or maybe just “1 Peter 3:8″ – that’d be a great way to remember my memory verse! Decisions, decisions……..

Cabled legwarmers

I’ve decided to start on one of my project ideas, a pair of cabled legwarmers. I’m knitting them with size 10 straight needles in Simply Soft Soft Blue yarn – they’ll sort-of match my cabled scarf, and hopefully they’re be both cute and practical. I’m only making them calf-length. As an impatient knitter, I have been pleased to find them knitting up quite quickly – each stitch is about 1/4 inch tall, 1/4 inch wide, so I’m getting approx. 16 stiches and 16 rows to four inches. I’m delighted to see my own pattern working out so beautifully. I think I’ll call them “bouree.”

k1, love2: What it’s all about

Hi, and welcome to my new blog – knit 1, love2! As you can probably expect, most of these posts will be about knitting.

The main reason I chose the name ”k1, love2″ is because I’m a Christian. Knitting is not our primary goal as people. Our goal is to glorify God, and one way we can accomplish that is by loving others. So, I’m knitting one and loving, too! I also like to get involved in charity stuff.

Currently, I have a really long list of projects!!!

One pair of gloves (I’ve only finished one glove)
One sweater (I need to finish one arm of the sweater)
Countless scarves (weaving in loose ends)

Future:

Beanie (hat) (for charity)
Stockinette stitch scarf (Christmas present)
Cabled scarf (Christmas present)
Stuffed bunny (Christmas present)
Legwarmers (for me)
Ballet wrap top (for me)
Shawl (for me, but I don’t know what I’d wear it with!)
